Tattysaurus the Dinosaur
Jane Eborall γ 2000 |
|
|
Introduction
The tattysaurus (measuring approx. 16 nose to tail) is made up of sections of tatting worked between very narrow metal (Indian) bracelets each measuring 2 Ύ. The two body sections are straight and the three neck sections are wedge shaped and worked at angles to each other. (See Figs. 1 & 1a). The face is worked in sections upper and lower with sides to both and cheeks in between. The tail is worked in decreasing rows. Wings and legs are worked separately. Split rings are used in the wedge shapes and legs. The wings are split rings with rings worked on the second half of the split. The whole tattysaurus can then be stiffened (I used PVA glue, but only on the face). My email address is Jane Eborall for any help needed with this easy, but sometimes fiddly pattern. I think its well worth the challenge - it was definitely a challenge to design!! |

Materials:- No. 20 Manuella thread in green (all rings) and contrast colours (bright) for the chains and some split rings. White for eyes. Small gold rocaille beads. Two large beads for eyes. 6 bracelets. PVA glue or other stiffening agent. |

The next wedge section of the neck is joined to the previous one in exactly the same way, starting the 3rd row on the new bracelet. On the 4th row, take care to join in between the joins on first wedges bracelet. (See Fig. 6) When attaching the contra-wedge section to the previous 2 wedges, work as last but attach in the opposite way i.e. with the narrowest part of the new section attached to the widest part of the previous section. Join the 1st R of 4th row to 13th space in row 3 of previous wedge. (See Fig. 7) |

Decrease twice on each row by joining two rings with a chain (including a bead). The 12th row will have 4 rings and 4 chains. Joins are made by pulling the 2nd p through the 1st p and adding a bead. See Fig, 13. Joins should be made opposite each other and as equally spaced as possible with each successive row decreasing at 90˚ (3 oclock & 9 oclock) to the previous row. See figs. 13a, b & c below for guidance. |
